A Day of Gratitude: Traveling with Veterans on the Honor Flight
What an incredible and humbling day getting to travel with my dad and 85 other veterans, and their guardians, as part of the Honor Flight of Southern Indiana.
After a full day in Washington DC, we arrived late Saturday night to hundreds of people cheering on the veterans back into Evansville Indiana airport. (Most of these veterans were from the Vietnam and Korean war times.)
When we were at the Washington monument a young Korean couple came up to our group and said "Thank you. We would not be here today if it wasn't for you." It was a powerful and sobering moment.
You don't have to be a veteran to make a positive difference and you may never know the impact of an encouraging word, listening ear, or just coming along side someone going through a tough season.
So many great leadership lessons and stories from these veterans.
