Papa’s Pancakes
What started as a sneaky way to get fruit into little bodies has become a standing morning tradition.
When our granddaughters sleep over, there’s almost always a request for pancakes. But not just any pancakes. These are custom orders.
-Pancakes with faces.
-Pancakes with glasses.
-Pancakes with flowers, chocolate chips, and expressions that look suspiciously like family members.
The joy isn’t really in the batter.
It’s in the anticipation.
The surprise.
The moment they walk in and realize it was made specifically for them.
I could make one big stack, slap it on the table, and call it breakfast. It would be faster. More efficient. And it would miss the point entirely.

Financial leadership works the same way.
Most business owners don’t struggle because they lack numbers. They struggle because they feel disconnected from them. Their financials are technically accurate but emotionally empty. Like a plate of pancakes with no personality.
If you are like me, you’ve learned that clarity isn’t created by more reports. It’s created when someone takes the time to explain what matters, why it matters, and how it connects to their life and goals.
Great financial leaders use the same numbers—but they don’t deliver them the same way.
They customize the conversation.
They notice the person behind the P&L.
They bring clarity where there was confusion.
Joy shows up when someone realizes, “This was made for me.”
That’s what builds trust.
That’s what creates peace of mind.
That’s leadership.
